Guest Poster Amelie: My Lizards.

Not long ago, I went on a holiday to  Bright. I found four Drop Tail Skinks, so I put them in a cherry container and brought them home. I named them  Smiley, Nipper, Leafy and Nigel.(my Mum named  the lizard Nigel).

Here are some facts:

  1. All lizards need a wide enclosure so they can stretch around.
  2. Fill up their water every second day.
  3. They eat fruit and  insects. Absolutely no vegetables. Fill up the food once a week.
  4. Fill the cage  with leaves, sticks, stones other  hiding places.
  5. Make sure they warm up  in the sun because they have cold blood.
  6. If you press your finger on their tail it might fall off but it will grow back.

They grow up to about 11cm.

I check up on them every morning. They are super quick.

Here is a picture of Nigel and my other lizards:

Guest Posters Quinn and Millie: Our Venus Fly Trap

free glitter text and family website at FamilyLobby.com

In 3HM we have a Venus Fly trap named Venus.

What it catches:

Venus the Fly Trap can gather lots of small insects such as fly , bees , spiders , beetles and lots of other small insects/bugs.

After it catchers an bug/insect it will snap very slowly, then it will eat it.

 Where You Put It:

You should put a Venus Fly Trap around a warm and sunny place. You could put it in the ground or near a window still.

Cilias:

Cilias are the tiny spikes on top of Venus,When a bug comes along and it taps the Cilias three times and then it closes, and then it eats the insect.

What it does with the bugs:

After a short time  Venus has sucked all of the important bits out of the bug it will spit the bug out and grow new traps but they will start slowly.

What it needs:

Venus is like real people, he needs lots of water and lots of sun light.

Guest Poster Mia: 2nd Prize in Water Competition!

Last term we learnt about water, for one of out tasks we had to make a poster about saving water for National water week!
Once we were finished, about a month after, we sent most of the posters of  to Barwon Water.

The people from Barwon Water got together and decided the winners of each category.

About a month after Miss . Rolinson  (the principal) came into our class room and told us some good news. I came second in the water competition!
I was really exited , my eye were watering, my face went red and I started laughing. Alana and Dana.c had to take me out  for some fresh air and a big drink to calm me down.
2 weeks after when we went to assembly a person from Barwon Water was there named Fernando.
I went up in front of the three’s to sixes and Fernando congratulated me. I was really excited but luckily my face didn’t turn red and i didn’t start laughing. I just smiled really big.
When i got home i tipped the bag of prizes out, here is a list of all the prizes that i got:

  • 5 Water bookmarks
  • 5 water stickers
  • 1 big water cycle poster
  • 1 big water saving poster (home/school)
  • $40 Office Works gift voucher
  • A football signed by Joel Corey (the GFC player) that also said best wishes on it.I got my Poster back. Here is a picture of it:
